Answers to Common Questions

Explore our most frequently asked questions about couples and relationship therapy. We’re here to help you find clarity and peace.

Why Allium Wellness?
We work almost exclusively with couples and relational concerns and have specialized education and experience. We have extensive training and expertise in relationship dynamics and are highly focused on helping clients deepen intimacy, improve communication, and enjoy more connection in their lives. We feel strongly that clients are best served through specialized mental healthcare, much like seeing different medical providers for different medical needs significantly improves outcomes.
How do I know which length session to choose?

Most clients find 55 min sessions to be a good fit, and this is the default. Occasionally, couples find value in longer session times that allow for more intense focus and processing each session. This is at the discretion of each couple and can be requested and discussed at the initial session or anytime in the process.

What can we expect from couples therapy?

Couples therapy at Allium Wellness focuses on enhancing communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening emotional bonds. Our sessions are tailored to meet the unique needs of each couple. If you’re experiencing recurring conflicts, communication breakdowns, or a desire to deepen your connection, therapy can provide valuable insights and tools for growth.

What is the vibe of Allium Wellness?

We create a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that encourages openness and authenticity. We believe in a holistic approach to therapy that embraces creativity and individuality.

Do you take insurance?

We are unable to accept insurance, as insurance companies require one person to have a mental health diagnosis and be the documented focus of therapy, which isn’t the case when working with relationships and is even counterproductive to the process.

When you self-pay, you may be able to access out-of-network reimbursement for a portion of the fee, depending on your insurance.

We have a great tool called Mentaya that allows you easily check your benefits. Click here to give it a try.

Do you offer telehealth?
Yes! We do also offer telehealth if that works best for you. Although, in-person sessions are recommended if you are in the Urbana or New Market areas of Maryland.
